Anna Cahill is a dedicated and talented Resident in Counseling, working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider (CSOTP). She graduated from Eastern Mennonite University with a BS in Psychology in 2021 and an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2023. Anna holds licenses from the VA Board of Counseling and the VA Board of Psychology as CSOTP Trainee.
Her diverse experience includes shadowing a psychiatric emergency team, completing her practicum and internship at Bridgewater College, and working at a nonprofit counseling organization. She has worked with outpatient clients of all ages and children with problematic sexual behaviors. Anna specializes in mood disorders, complex trauma, anxiety, grief, relationship concerns, Substance abuse, self-esteem, and stress. She enjoys working with clients of all ages, particularly middle school children and young adults. Anna employs an Integrative Person-Centered Therapeutic Approach, incorporating Attachment Theory, a Strengths-based perspective, and techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Theory and Motivational Interviewing, play therapy, along with expressive arts interventions for children. She believes in the power of healthy connections and recognizing one’s strengths, striving to provide a safe, welcoming environment for healing. Anna is also trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and has experience administering the Assessment of Sexual Behavior Problems in Children (ASBPC).
In her free time, she enjoys reading fantasy novels, crocheting, and spending time with her two cats. She also loves being outdoors and hiking with her fiancé.
