Renee Anderson, LPC, LCMHC, is a licensed professional counselor in both Virginia and North Carolina, holding credentials from the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors and the Virginia Board of Counseling. She is also trained in Postpartum Support, Crisis Debriefing, and Healing Touch. Renee earned her BA in Psychology from Mars Hill College in May 1986 and her MA from Gardner-Webb University in May 1997.
With over 27 years of experience, she has worked in various roles including, hospitals, inpatient psychiatric units, social work, discharge planning, case management, group and individual therapy, partial hospitalization, and crisis assessment and management. Her experience spans community mental health (ACTT team, crisis services, Intensive In-Home, schools), the Department of Social Services, and private practice settings.
Renee specializes in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use/abuse, crisis intervention, women’s issues, and the impact of medical conditions on psychological health. She currently works with young adults (18+), adults, and geriatric clients, utilizing therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Humanistic Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Mindfulness, and other integrative therapy methods. Renee believes in the integration of interventions that address the mind, body, and spirit, viewing crises as opportunities for positive change. She enjoys collaborating with clients to help them live their best lives.
Outside of her professional work, Renee enjoys being close to nature, caring for her farm animals, growing food and flowers, and creating organic health and beauty products for friends and family. In her spare time, she loves cooking, reading, watching old movies, and discovering new music.
