Amanda is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Eastern Mennonite University, with an expected graduation in May 2026. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from James Madison University in May 2024. As part of her graduate training, Amanda is serving as a counseling intern under licensed supervision, gaining hands-on experience in individual therapy through her practicum at the Community Counseling Center since January 2025.
Amanda’s therapeutic approach is rooted in humanistic principles, emphasizing empathy, authenticity, and deep self-compassion. She integrates elements of attachment theory, parts work, and interpersonal theory, while also incorporating mindfulness and contemplative practices to support holistic healing. Her passion lies in creating a safe, supportive space where clients can explore their stories and foster meaningful, lasting change.
While still early in her professional journey, Amanda is particularly drawn to working with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, life transitions, school stress, and eating disorder recovery. Amanda has a strong passion for working with adolescents and young adults but remains open and welcoming to clients across all age groups.
Amanda’s academic and clinical work is complemented by her personal dedication to mental health advocacy. She has conducted extensive research on eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image, including a 2024 research study at James Madison University. She has also completed ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training).
Outside of her professional life, Amanda finds joy in spending time with friends and family, being outdoors, going on long walks with music, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. A lifelong lover of stories, she often finds comfort in re-reading her favorite books. Amanda has felt called to the field of therapy for as long as she can remember and is honored to walk alongside her clients on their healing journeys
